FUE Hair Transplant

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant, also known as follicular unit extraction, is a method of transplanting a patient's long-term healthy hair (usually located at the back and sides of the scalp) into areas of the scalp where it is needed (such as the top and front). With continuous improvement in technology and surgical techniques, natural and lasting results can now be achieved through FUE hair transplantation.

FUE hair transplant is a relatively simple outpatient procedure. It usually takes between 3 to 9 hours, depending on the quantity of hair to be transplanted and the complexity of the situation. The surgery is performed in our clinic using local anesthesia. Most patients adapt well to this procedure, with many even describing it as nearly painless. Like other minimally invasive surgeries, hair restoration surgery requires comprehensive preoperative evaluation, including understanding the patient's family history, medical history, proper scalp examination, as well as discussing goals and long-term planning. Additionally, routine blood tests are performed preoperatively. In very few cases, scalp biopsies may be needed for a more accurate diagnosis.

Our FUE hair transplant is considered a low-risk, minimally invasive, and highly predictable surgical procedure. Due to significant improvements in surgical techniques and instrument design, FUE hair transplantation has largely replaced Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), also known as "strip harvesting," methods worldwide.

We firmly believe that FUE is the superior hair transplant technique, and the reasons for this are as follows:

  • Safety and Comfort: Patients report minimal to no pain during the procedure, as well as throughout the recovery period.

  • Low Transection Rate: The transection rate of transplanted follicles is less than 5%, often close to 0%.

  • High Efficiency: On average, each transplanted follicle can yield more hair, with up to 3,500 follicles transplanted in a single procedure.

  • Avoidance of Linear Scars: FUE hair transplant avoids the linear scars left by traditional hair transplant methods.

  • Quick Recovery: Faster recovery time compared to other methods.

  • Precision Harvesting: No wastage of any transplanted follicles.

  • No-Shave FUE: Reduces surgical time and waiting periods.

  • Non-Touch Technique: Transplanted follicles exhibit faster growth and more robust results.

  • Versatility: Can be used for hair and eyebrow transplants.

  • Value Guarantee: Payment is based on the number of transplants, with most containing multiple follicles, ensuring patients actually receive more hair.

Physicians prepare for the patient's hair loss treatment needs in advance to achieve optimal results and avoid wasting precious transplanted follicles.

Would you like to know if you are suitable for FUE hair transplant surgery? We will consider multiple factors to assess the suitability of the patient. These factors include:

  • Degree of Hair Loss: The amount of hair in the donor area significantly influences the outcome of the surgery. If your hair loss is severe or if there's limited hair in the donor area, the hair transplant surgery may not achieve the desired results. Our doctors will discuss various options with you before the surgery.

  • Scalp Health: Individuals with baldness or scalp diseases are not suitable candidates for FUE hair transplant surgery. If the donor area lacks healthy hair suitable for transplantation, the surgery may not yield ideal results. Additionally, individuals with tight scalps may also experience compromised outcomes. These conditions can be evaluated through a scalp examination before the surgery.

  • Lifestyle: People who are suitable for FUE hair transplant surgery are typically in good physical health. If you maintain good lifestyle habits such as balanced diet, regular exercise, and have no underlying immune system issues, you may benefit from the surgery.

  • A: Doctors classify FUE hair transplant surgery as minimally invasive, low-risk, and predictable in terms of results. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia. Most patients report that apart from the local anesthesia, the entire procedure and the recovery period afterward are painless. Many individuals do not need any pain medication once they return home. Sensations such as itching, numbness, and mild tingling may be experienced in the first 1-2 weeks after the surgery.

  • A: The success rate is very high. You're welcome to visit our hospital to view before-and-after photos and get a genuine sense of our surgical quality.

  • A: The transplanted hair is typically healthy and can naturally grow for a long time. Therefore, these hairs do not require specific maintenance. However, if a patient anticipates further hair loss in non-transplanted areas, the hair in those regions may require some maintenance treatments, such as using finasteride, minoxidil, laser therapy, or specialized shampoos.

  • A: The severity of hair loss corresponds to the amount of work needed, which also translates to requiring more downtime or recovery time. Generally, our patients need to pause their work or social activities for 3-10 days.

  • A: Within the first week, avoid strenuous exercise and try to minimize sweating during this critical post-operative period. After one week, you can return to the gym for activities like running, yoga, etc. Two weeks post-surgery, you can resume swimming. After a month, you can engage in contact sports such as boxing, Muay Thai, rugby, etc.

  • A: You can resume the mentioned activities after one month, but please consult our doctor for specific instructions regarding these procedures.
